Where to Begin

Thank you for joining our growing family of artists affiliated with Don Terra Artworks! We look forward to collaborating with you in building a long and mutually prosperous relationship for years to come. The steps you need to complete in setting up your Don Terra Artist Online Account are:

  1. Make note of the Don Terra Artworks Artist Code Teri assigned you as you will need it not only for your inventory accounting with the gallery but for communicating with us online.  If you do not remember your artist code, contact Teri directly to get it.  All subject lines in artist email correspondence must begin with your artist code followed by a space or hyphen.
  2. Read our Artist Forms page for information on how to write an artist statement and biography and any other forms we may need in working with you. It is up to you to proofread your statement and bio before submitting them for publication on our site. Once your artist profile page has been published,  page revisions requested within the same subscription year may be subject to further charges. We also reserve the right to edit your content for clarity and marketability.
  3. Write and submit your artist statement and biography. If you are participating in our eCommerce program, this must be done before adding your inventory to your shopping cart account. Submit your artist statement and bio in text-only format through our online forms by clicking on the links below -
  4. Using our guidelines for image preparation, create images for your artwork to be displayed under your artist statement at donterra.com and in our online shopping cart. Please remember that the
  5. Upload your artwork images to your Flickr account, following the instructions on our Basic Representation page. If you do not have Flickr account, you will need to set one up. If, for any reason, you cannot complete this task on your own, for an additional fee of $25 plus $5 per image, Barbara will properly size your images and upload them to a special Flickr account where she will tag them properly for inclusion on your artist profile page. You can request this service by emailing Barbara.  (Need help to open your Flickr account? Watch this video on YouTube or read this Newbie’s Guide to Flickr.)
  6. After you have uploaded and properly tagged your artwork images in your Flickr account, and emailed the appropriate information to Barbara, she will capture your profile image from Flickr and add it to your profile page on our website. If you have a website and want us to include a link to it, be sure to mention it to Barbara in your Flickr account announcement email. If you are not adding products to our online shopping cart, you can jump forward to step 9.
  7. If you are offering your artwork for sell online through our shopping cart, you must add images and descriptions for the artwork in addition to following Step 5 for uploading artwork images to your Flickr account. When you email Barbara your Flickr image information, let her know you are ready to add your items to the shopping cart and she will email you the instructions on how to add your art products to it.
  8. When you have finished populating your shopping cart inventory, be sure to contact Barbara as stated in the shopping cart documentation so she can review your work and set product display options for the shopping cart and on our forthcoming shopping cart feature for our Facebook page.
  9. According to research statistics released in November 2011, fifty-one percent of Americans over age 12 have a profile on Facebook and 43 percent have a Twitter account. Approximately 46 million Americans check their social media sites and services several times a day and of those, nearly 25 percent admit Facebook posts are the most influential in their buying decisions.  As of 2012 we must be more aggressive in our online marketing efforts overall. At a minimum every artist is expected to:
    • Like our Facebook pages:
      Don Terra Artworks
      Art Works in Tumalo
As of 2012 we will be driving much of our online marketing program through Facebook. You should set up a Facebook page for your artwork as well.
    • Follow us on Twitter. If you have not signed up for Twitter,  following instructions we have provided here.
    • Subscribe to our YouTube channel. If you have a gmail account you can automatically log into YouTube and subscribe to our channel while you are logged in to your gmail account.  Otherwise, you will need to create a YouTube account and sign in to subscribe to our YouTube channel.
    • Add us as contact and/or friend on Flickr. In 2011 we switched to pulling the artist artwork images that appear on our site from Flickr.  By doing so, artists are no longer restricted to having only 10 images on display and they can change, add, or delete images as often as they’d like. Most importantly, if they name, describe, and tag their images properly, their artwork becomes more visible for those searching for art via Google, Yahoo, and Bing search engines.
    • If you were not automatically subscribed to the Don Terra Artworks Constant Contact Email Updates when you set up your artist account with us, please sign up now to get Teri’s latest announcements sent to both artists and patrons. For updates from Barbara regarding your presence on our website, shopping cart, and Facebook page, please subscribe to the Don Terra Artworks Artists Email List.
  10. Whether or not you participate in our shopping cart program, you need to setup an account at Shop.Donterra.Com and sign in to your shopping cart account at least once a month. Every 90 days you will be required automatically to change your shopping cart password. If it has been more than 90 days since you signed in or you have forgotten your password, you will find retrieval and reset options on the shopping cart login page.

Please note: Each artist is responsible for entering his or her information on our website and in our shopping cart. Do not provide your shopping cart user IDs or passwords to any third parties. If you are not able to upload your product information personally, contact Barbara for information on other approved options. This year Barbara is launching a new training program on using social media applications, developing and implementing integrated marketing programs, and embracing the latest technologies in developing your art business.  Please email Barbara if you are interested in participating in any of these training programs.
