Brad Quist Artist Statement
Where do I get the inspiration to paint the wild and all of the fishing scenes? I guess it would have to be my many adventures in the vastness of the Rocky Mountains where I grew up. It was very clear to me, at an early age, that being outdoors fishing, camping and adventuring was just something you did growing up in Montana. I am very grateful for the opportunities I had to freely explore and get lost in the beauty of it all. These great memories are what have inspired me to explore my imagination and create the underwater and outdoor scenes that I paint today.

Just when I thought Montana had it all I then discovered the beauty of Oregon. This is where I live now and am very excited to share my artwork with this amazing community of Oregonians and all the people I meet in this journey of art.

I’m now fully immersed in my art and live in the Willamette Valley with my wife and two children hoping to pass on my passion for the outdoors to the next generation. I continue to grow as an artist while adventuring and fishing with my family. I’m always looking for the perfect river or the stunning arrangement of colors in all species of trout. There is never a fish that is too big or too small for me. I enjoy the simplicity and what fishing and the outdoors represent to our world. As an artist I hope you see all that I am in my paintings. I enjoy sharing this with you!

About Brad Quist
My background for painting in oil and various media began at a young age and then it evolved into a college education at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. I had an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of fine art while receiving a BA in Art and Physical Education in 1991. I then moved to Oregon to work in a Humanitarian field, working with at-risk youth. During this time I continued to reflect on my passion, blending my love for the outdoors with my creativity. I began developing art programs for at risk teens while also teaching art, entering various fish-stamp competitions, sportsman shows and art shows around the Northwest, displaying and selling my work. I was happy to have placed in many of the Fish Stamp competitions all over the U.S. and hope to enter more in the future. Along with the competitions it is always great to talk with fisherman and many outdoor enthusiasts while displaying my work at various shows. “This is very fun for me and I enjoy being out there within a community, meeting new people and learning from them.”
