Artist Statement
I like what’s real with a touch of fantasy. I put a part of myself into my work, sometimes it’s emotional, other times it’s fun. Life should be fun so I love to make my work fun whenever possible. But sometimes life throw things our way that can make us emotional. I like to show my feelings through my art. So looking at my art will tell you what kind of mood I was in when it was created. Art, particularly ceramic art for me, is a wonderful way to release those feelings!

About Artist Judilyn Markel
I’m originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My family and I moved to Sisters, Oregon over six years ago. I’ve been married for twenty years and we have two children. I’ve always had an interest in art but have recently discovered ceramic art. I discovered it can be very calming, healing as a matter of fact. It’s a great way to let out those creative feelings. Wonderful therapy. I actually hope to be an “Art Therapist” in the future. I’m currently working on my education to do so. I love to learn which explains why I love to attend school. I’m currently a student at OSU and look forward to my bachelor’s degree in “Liberal Studies” in 2011.
