McNamee, Jodi
Artist Statement
Although I tend to be a realistic wildlife painter, I am much more interested in how the subject feels to me, rather than how it looks.
I paint in layers and use very fine brushes for feathers and fur. I take my time on every painting to bring through each individual personality and expressions whether it is birds, bears or the buffalo. I have also been painting a series of endangered wildlife, as I am very charismatic to this cause. There is a softness to watercolor that I love.
I also have a passion for photography that I use to captue the images of wildlife as the subject matter for my watercolor paintings.
