Kinker, David

Artist Statement
David Kinker has the authentic expression of an artist connected to nature and the fluent dance of the medium. Sublime sparkle of light and color are captured in his images. Looking past the pure subject of the mountain, the mural or the abstract design, scales of esthetics delivered on gesture and atmosphere bring the realm of mystic synchronicity into view. Imagined worlds are layered up for us to peer through like perceptions changing through time. Personal connection and the reflective nature of this artistʼs visual language is as light and joyous, as it is serious and contemplative. This art seems to change with every glance and passing day as perceptions are illuminated and greater connectedness is found.

About David Kinker
David Kinkerʼs life experiences are diverse but interwoven with the consistencies of nature found around him. Whether in the rugged Wyoming Rocky Mountain terrain, with wild game a staple, or a small southwest mountain town where the phone only had 4 numbers. His purpose in life was clear and the pursuit of creative hobbies ensued.

Through high school he attended vocational technical schools where graphics, print art, and illustration, were still using time honored, hand lettering and manual layout. Upon completion of high school a technical degree in architectural design and production art was earned. Four years in the US Navy as a air crewman developed a first hand world view, and finely his goal of attending art collage to complete a Bachelorʼs Degree in Visual Communication.

Working as Graphics Manager at a ski resort for a few years quickly grew limiting. To find his own destiny he built a business of custom sign design and architectural illustration which evolved into powerful illusionistic murals and fine art canvases.

Exploring rivers during all their seasons, sharing their geological and cultural stories has always been a way of connecting himself and others to the beauty and importance of our environment. This theme of connectedness is also found in his lively and well received art instruction.

Today, David is well known regionally as a master muralist and award winning fine artist. Over the years his artwork has been featured in publications such as Bend Living and Cascades Arts and Entertainment. His work can be found in in many prominent businesses and in numerous private collections.
