Garofalo, Shannah
About Artist Shannah Garofalo
When I was eight, I surprised my family with a shooting star pillow that I had drawn, cut and sewn in the basement from my mother’s fabric collection. In high school, I built my own loom and wove a Navajo rug that still hangs on my living room wall. I took up basket weaving because the fabric store where I worked through college needed displays. Add dabbling with jewelry in soldering and lost wax, stained glass, and glass fusing over the years and I guess you could say I’m a craft technique junkie.
I live to create. Discovering new materials, techniques and combinations and sharing them with others is my passion. When my analytical day job brought me to Portland, OR, I never imagined I would find such artistic inspiration. I credit the mentors, materials available and natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest for rekindling my love of the arts and bringing me to share it with you.
My love of experimenting with technique and materials means that you’ll always find something new from Dolcezza. Currently I am making small ceramics, beaded jewelry and soldered pendants. Dolcezza means “sweetness” which is the quality I try to bring into your life and mine through my work.
