Peter Hinds Artist Statement
My love of nature, the outdoors and the designs of Native Americans give me inspiration. I have an imaginative and unique way of perceiving shape and design in my colorful and finely detailed work.  People who see my drawings tell me they look Asian, Mexican, Mayan, Iranian and Scandinavian.

It is difficult to describe my art, but whimsical works. It is achieved through pen and ink and vivid colors. Colored pencils, water colors and acrylics are incorporated into the drawings. My pictures need to be investigated closely. Changes occur at different angles; perspective varies. My pictures invite investigation and discovery.

About Peter Hinds
Peter Hinds taught elementary school for thirty years in Oregon public schools. He instilled in children a love of art and developed and encouraged their talents. The only art class he ever took was an art class for elementary teachers taught by writer and illlustrator, Ed Emberley. He encouraged Pete to take drawing seriously and to concentrate on his unique style.

In retirement, Pete has been able to focus work not only on drawing but photography as well. His artwork has graced the covers of two books published in Japan.
