Artist Statement
We use recycled metal and glass to create and express what we feel. We hand draw our vision of what we would like to create on metal. Lissa most enjoys creating female forms, mermaids, fairies, Goddesses and nudes. Ken most enjoys creating mythical creatures, suns, moons and animals. Ken fuses the glass pieces by putting his own colors, textures and techniques together. It is most often an fantastic surprise we get when opening the finished glass kiln. It is exciting to try a new idea and see how it turns out. Such a magical feeling. Getting to spend 24 hours a day together is a priceless bond of sharing and creating every minute of life together. We are moved in a spiritual way when a finished piece turns out just perfect. We most often hear our artwork described as whimsical. Life truly is amazing and dreams do come true.

About Ken and Lissa Harden
We moved to Oregon in 1990 after spending a couple of years selling our belongings, not knowing where we would end up. Tired of our big city sales management careers that seemed so meaningless and sending our 7 year old daughter to expensive private schools. We spent that summer travelling, camping and searching for where felt like home. We ended up in Oregon quite a distance from home and family in Houston, Texas. We were so impressed with the friendly small town feel. It just wowed us. While working for Harry and David picking peaches and pears, pruning and thinning the trees, Ken Started having a repeated dream at night where he was carving wood. So Ken started carving wood knots and we started doing the Ashland saturday market. One art form led to many others along the way, including teaching kids to juggle. Now we create Metal sculpture and fused glass artwork.
