Justine Gibb Artist Statement

I believe we’re all artists at heart. The differences apply to how we express our creativity. I’ve always enjoyed drawing and sculpting. I’m fascinated by different techniques and love to try new things. I also enjoy exploring how different cultures share their creativity. For this reason, folk art has long held an attraction for me.

My latest artistic outlet is in the form of glass art. I use a stained glass technique to encapsulate tiny pieces of art. Each item is framed by a copper foil wrap followed by a coat of lead free solder. It’s all wearable and hangable. The beveled glass pieces capture the sunlight nicely and do well hanging in a window or on a wall or a door.

Each piece is a tiny empowering marvel. You’ll find an enjoyable image backed by an inspiring quote or statement. I scour libraries, estate sales, and antique stores for unique images and quotes. I also do custom orders, allowing people to preserve their most treasured photos, announcements, poems, etc.

My current lines include:

  • Cowgirls: stemming from my love of the undaunted female spirit. We can all use a nudge to remind us of how awesome we are.
  • Faeries: tiny free-flowing representations of our inherent sparkle.
  • Classic Children’s Illustrations: reminding us of the power of imagination and wonder that fills our lives.
