Jeanne Ground Artist Statement
I’ve always loved organic shapes, inspired by the natural beauty around me. There such life to organic shapes! I want my work to let the viewer feel the joy and energy that I felt while I was creating it. Painting feeds my soul and I hope the viewer will feel that as well.

Most of my current work is digital painting. Sometimes I begin with several photographs. Sometimes I only use a photograph for the colors that are in it. It is like being able to turn the photograph liquid and dipping my brush into it. Sometimes it is hard to tell what part is photograph and what part simply came out of my imagination.

Painting on my computer allows me much more control and versatility that painting with regular brushes. Using a Wacom Tablet allows my brushes to be pressure sensitive, allows for transparency by percentages, hard or soft edges, textured strokes, and I can enlarge it while I’m working on it so that the detail can be even less than a pixel. The possibilities are really endless in a way that is not possible otherwise. Being able to put my digital painting onto canvas really gives me a way to share it with viewers as I envision it.
