Griffin, Chuck
Artist Statement
During wanderings throughout the U.S. I’d always been drawn to the epic spaces of the American West and to the lush, ancient forests of the Pacific Northwest in particular. Witness to many a wilderness wonder here, I was compelled to take up the lens and have been reaching for the elusive harmony ever since. I am led without by what I hear within, listening with my eyes. To realize that perfect moment of light, earth, and atmosphere is to be one with the landscape.
To record what’s witnessed I use a Canon 5D with various Canon L-series lenses. Images are captured in RAW format then processed in the digital “darkroom” for superior color balance and sharpness. There are no enhancements beyond the reality of the subject matter — no pasted moons or added wildlife or cutup montages. I then print on gallery-quality photo papers using finest archival inks for unsurpassed depth, tonal range, and color fastness. The result is stunning imagery for home or office that will soothe and inspire for decades to come. A complete portfolio may be accessed at www.chuckgriffinphoto.com.
