Artist Statement
My drawings have become an increasingly important part of my life, both personal and social. I prefer the process of using pencil on paper and the freedom it allows me to begin from a central idea and work toward completion of a finished landscape by whatever route that journey may take me.

An emphasis on spontaneity and detail in a large format allows me to develop that initial idea or concept as an organic and open-ended experience. Hopefully the original inspiration becomes a work that is not ony a personal viewpoint but one that is enjoyable to others.

About Steve Evans
I attended The Academy of Art College in San Francisco from 1967 through 1970, working my last year in the Honors Program. I moved to Eugene, Oregon and attended the University of Oregon and Lane Community in 1971 and 1972, I taught classes in drawing at the Oregon State Penitentiary and at the Simmons Art Gallery in Eugene.
My work has been shown at The Mayors Art Show and The Salon De Refuse in Eugene and at Don Terra Artworks in Sisters, Oregon. I am presently working on reproducing all of my drawings in a smaller format than the originals, as well as finishing up a new drawing of the Oregon Coast.
