Earls, Priscilla
About Priscilla Earls
I was born in Eugene, Oregon and moved to Terrebonne in 2008. I hold a bachelors degree (2003) from the UO with a double major, fine arts and anthropology. Being a somewhat wayward soul, i begand my studies in 1970 and didn’t finish until 2003. I have been selling my artwork privately, beginnng with the Eugene Saturday Market in the early 1970s.
My formal training in the arts was in life drawing, printmaking, ceramics and scientific illustration. I enjoyed all these mediums, but two dimensions weren’t quite enough, and stoneware was too heavy and fragile to satisfy me. I began to work in cartonnage (a form of papier mache) in the early 1980s. I wanted a medium that was plastic, durable, easily portable, and not limited to two dimensions. It also feels right to recycle materials instead of waste them. Magic, ritual, folklore, and nature provide my inspiration.
