Artist Statement
I”ve always enjoyed dabbling in art and being creative with many mediums.

As a self taught painter, one becomes aware of textures, surroundings, changes in lights and shadows. It’s rewarding and challenging to take a one dimenionsal flat surface and by adding color choices and design concepts the results being, a perceived depth and dimensional art piece.

Making jewelry is instant gratification. Whether it is color of the iridescent dichroic glass or texture and design elements of working with precious metal clay, jewelry making is fun and exciting, knowing someone is wearing a one of a kind piece of jewelry I made.

About Janis Edwards
Janis Edwards is a self taught artist with a realistic and detailed style. Teaching craft and oil painting classes from her shop, Jan’s Hobbicraft, lead to many opportunities. She was offered the chance to teach craft classes to a select group of women at the Oregon Women’s Correctional Institute.

She also enjoyed teaching oil painting through adult art education at Linn Benton Community College.

A rekindled interest in desiging stained glass windows and becoming a member of the Oregon Glass Guild has generated renewed creativity. Along with the stained glass, the transition to fusing glass projects produced her dichroic glass jewelry.

Always interested in jewelry lead to the discovery of precious metal clay, which when fired turns to 99.9% fine silver. Leaves and pendants made from precious metal clay are her specialties of hers. A PMC Guild member and a certified instructor for the clay, she is able to introduce others to this unique and beautiful artist medium. She is currently teaching classes at two stores in Albany, Oregon and shows her jewelry at a coast gallery and DonTerra’s Artworks in Sisters, Oregon.
