Artist Statement
A retired beautician and salon owner, also in the beauty supply industry for several years. I am a care giver [mom and dad] at this time. So I needed something to relax and use my creative ideas on.
A self taught gourd artist since 2000, I am a long-time admirer of all the arts but gourds intrigued me, their shapes sizes and coloration. I am always looking for new ideas. I have been showing my gourds for 8 years and love doing a little of every thing, swinging towards western and Indian design.
My basket work is self taught also. I learned a basic stitch and practiced until I got it right, then added more stitches.
To sum it all up sharing my ideas and pieces with you makes my work complete.
