Artist Statement
I have taken pleasure in working with wood most of my life. However, raising a family and my employment did not allow me much time. I barely had time to build rocking cows and mini mares for my grandchildren and buckboard benches for my children and their families.However, now that I am retired, I am finding the time to pursue this hobby. A problem, however; my children have benches, and the grandchildren have grown to the point that they no longer can enjoy rocking on Baby Bessie or Mini Mare.I thought; “Why not offer other people with the opportunity to provide to their children and grandchildren that same joy that I have seen my grandchildren have in rocking on Mini Mare or Baby Bessie or seeing people relaxing and enjoying my Buckboard Bench.We now live in Sisters, Oregon and I can now pursue the joy of working with wood and see individuals take pleasure in what I have seen others enjoy from these crafts.I offer three different rocking animals, Baby Bessie, Mini Mare and an addition, a rocking bear, currently without a name. Overall length – 24”, seat height – 15”.The Buckboard Bench is made from red oak, is finished to withstand outside weather and its dimensions are L-43”, H-32”, W- 21”.
It is hoped that the same satisfaction can come to your family and friends that I have seen come to my family.
