Baker, Kay
Artist Statement
I love color, nature, and life; not necessarily in that order, and as an artist I enjoy all three. Through the lens of my faith in God, I strive to capture His creation through my painting. I want to express the emotions that I am feeling when on location or in the studio and create something that evokes similar emotions for those who see my paintings.I work in oil, pastel and watercolor depending on my mood. Color, brush stokes, and composition all serve to create landscapes that speak to the heart.Painting on location and experiencing the magic of being outdoors gives me an extra boost of joy and energy. I’ve travelled to Italy, Russia, and Israel to study and paint on location and my travels and living in Oregon give me a wealth of inspiration for future paintings.
