The word sculpture originates from the Latin word sculpere, which means “to carve”. Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork created by shaping or combining solid materials, sound, and/or text and or light, and more commonly stone (either rock or marble), metal, glass, wood or leather. Some sculptures are created directly by finding or carving; others are assembled, built together and fired, welded, molded, or cast.
